The personal belongings of Chavchavadze family members, furniture, various literary editions, paintings, and other unique exponents perfectly resemble the expansion of European culture in Georgia.

JOURNEY OPTION #1


Tsinandali – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Tsinandali

Explore picturesque and the most fertile part of Georgia - Kakheti, which borders the Great Caucasus range from the north Alazani Valley, summits of which are over 3,000 m. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kizikhi area and unusual charm of Sighnagi Royal Town. Have a walk in narrow streets of the town in shadow of wooden balconies richly decorated with the lace of carved ornaments.


Cultural sites to visit:

· Sighnagi - a Royal town surrounded by the defensive walls with 23 towers. Each of these towers were named after nearby villages and respective families and served as a refuge in case of danger. The town was mainly inhabited by merchants and artisans. It had many gates through which numerous Silk Road travelers from Asia and Europe passed on their way.

· Bodbe nunnery complex was founded during St. Nino's earthly life, in the first part of the fourth century. During the Middle Ages Bodbe Convent represented ecclesiastical and cultural centers of the country.

JOURNEY OPTION #2


Tsinandali – Telavi – Gremi – Tsinandali

Explore Kakheti, the region which is known as a birthplace of viticulture and wine- making.

The reach land, burning sun and hard work have developed about 500 varieties of vine in Georgia. The history, culture and lifestyle of Georgians and in particular people of Kakheti region are embodied in Georgian wine.


Cultural sites to visit:

· Telavi – is one of the most ancient cities in Georgia and was known since 1st – 2nd centuries AD and for a long time was an important trading center on the caravan route from Near East to Europe. Nowadays Telavi is a modern city with the population of more than 20,000.

When exploring Telavi guests will visit its Old Part and Batonistsikhe – a fortress which served as a residence of Kakhetian kings. According to historical records it was built in two stages – in 1667-1675 and in the second half of the 18th century. The complex comprises the wall, the palace, two churches, the bath, and the tunnel.

· Gremi Architectural Complex - the architectural ensemble of Gremi was built in the 16th century and used to be capital of the region from 1466 to 1672. Some historical annals note that one branch of the legendary Silk Route was passing through Gremi. It was rich trading town with population around 100,000 people, but the town down to the west of the citadel was totally devastated by Shah Abbas in 1616.

Today Ensemble is represented by stone Church of Archangels Michael and Gabriel richly covered with frescoes and restored royal castle with a small museum on ground floor.
